Federalism

Forty percent of the world's people live in federations. The 28 countries with federal systems of government are amazingly diverse; they include not only the world's wealthiest nation- the United States of America, but also tiny island-states like Micronesia and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Six of the ten most populous countries and eight of the ten largest countries by area are federations. Not only has federalism become increasingly important in the world.

The concept of federalism has been executing as a best Democratic practice in the world. Several restructuring of state compromises with federal structure either the cause of conflict or peoples' revolution. There are not hard & fast theories on federalism in the heritage of world's academicians and politicians. Some of the federations are getting success for forerunning the restructure and some are not. So, we should take the references from federally restructured countries best practice and learning from the entire world.

Nepal is going to restructure into Federal Democratic Republic state after 12 years armed conflict between monarchical government and Nepal Communist Party Maoist, by the consent of October people's revolution or Second largest people's revolution of Nepal 2062/63 BS. The mandate had abolished the monarchy from Nepal. The constituent assembly has also formed by fair election to institutionalise the people's mandate. The multi-cultural, multi-ethnicities, multi-religious, multi-lingual country is in the debate of federalising the country according to assorted interests.
The Nepalese type of Federal structure is the current need to get permanent peace and sustainable democracy.
