Governance Reform

According to the World Bank, "Governance is the process and institutions by which an authority in a country is exercised".Also, Governance is defined as the exercise of authority through formal and informal traditions and institutions for the common good, thus encompassing the process of selecting, monitoring and replacing governments; the capacity to formulate and implement sound policies and deliver public services, and the respect of citizens and the state for the institutions that govern economic and social interactions among them.

Other categories of governance are:
- The process, by which governments are selected, held accountable, monitored, and replaced.
- The capacity of governments to manage resources efficiently, and to formulate, implements, and enforces sound policies and regulations.
- The respect for the institutions that govern economic and social interactions among them.

The governance system in Nepal has been ineffective, corrupt, and unresponsive to the needs of the nation. It does not, and has not, met any of the above criteria put forth by some of the most influential and recognized organizations in the world. Reform Forum is fully aware of the current situation in Nepal's governance system, and is committed to its reform. Different monitoring programs and research projects have borne out the lack of governance in Nepal. Our organization has been, and is currently involved in, different projects in order with the goal of governance reform.
